After seven years, the Citrus Tower stopped its Christmas light show. But the owners are contemplating ways to bring it back.
CLERMONT – It has been two years since the Citrus Tower announced the cancellation of its Christmas light show, which included miles of colorful lights atop the 226-foot structure synchronized to music and snow.
And ever since, people have been lamenting about how much they miss it.
However, after an announcement by owners Scott and Heather Homan Wednesday night, there is hope for its return in time for Christmas 2020. But they can’t afford to do it alone.
CLERMONT, Fla. – It’s been two years since the Citrus Tower had a Christmas light display, but a new membership drive could bring it back in 2020.
Scott Homan and his wife took over the family business of running the tower last year and have worked to upgrade the building that opened in 1955.
“It’s a huge building, but this is a small business,” he said.
Homan and his wife have transformed the inside of the iconic building, adding new businesses like adding a coffee shop, an arcade and board game store. Additionally, the tower now features free wi-fi, air conditioning and a new place to sit at the top of the tower.
“So the air conditioning was my first order of business when I took on the tower,” Homan said.
But bringing back the Christmas light display is one change the owners haven’t been able to make happen quite yet.

The Citrus Tower is in line with a national trend that has people stringing up Christmas lights to communicate hope amid the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
CLERMONT – Though the holiday season is months away, the 226-foot Citrus Tower is lighting up nightly with eight 135-foot strands of dancing white lights spanning the length of the towers.
The Citrus Tower, located at 141 S. Highway 27, Clermont, is in line with a national trend that has people stringing up Christmas lights to communicate hope amid the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
Tower owners Scott and Heather Homan were inspired by the idea and carried it out with help from Jay Peterson of Jay’s Lights LLC, Citrus tower members, Chick-fil-A Clermont and a few other business sponsors.
